THE Echo Arena Waterfront Big Top will welcome Sleeping Beauty this Christmas with Coronation Street and The Bill actor Andrew Lancel – winner of British Soap Awards 2012 Villain of the Year – heading the cast.
The production, which runs from December 14 to January 6, will be staged in a specially-built, 3,000-seat heated big top on the King’s Dock site as part of a Christmas Family Festival extravaganza.
Lancel, will play the evil Carabose the Wicked Wizard and Master of the Underworld. He says: “I’m thrilled to be appearing in Liverpool and to be playing this deliciously wicked character which also presents some great comedic opportunities in the script. Bring on the boos, I’m ready.” Lancel will be joined by Bread actor Jonathon Morris as the Jester and children’s favourite Fifi Forget Me Not.
Producers are promising a glittering set including a rotating spinning tower castle plus a 15ft smoke- breathing dragon, with special effects including a digitally animated projection of a growing forest of thorns”
SLEEPING Beauty is at The Waterfront Big Top, at the Echo Arena from December 14 to January 6.
